Swachhata Hi Seva 2026: Department of Fertilizers Outlines Detailed Action Plan, Mass Shramdaan Set for October 1

The Department of Fertilizers, under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, has intensified preparations for the successful organization of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' campaign. The campaign will be held from September 17 to October 2, 2026, under the theme 'Participation in Cleanliness; Clean India, Developed India.' The primary objective of this initiative is to raise awareness about hygiene and ensure a clean, organized, and improved working environment within offices.

Mr. Rajat Kumar Mishra, Secretary of the Department of Fertilizers, has requested officials and employees of the department to participate enthusiastically in the campaign and ensure active involvement in various cleanliness activities. This campaign, which has been organized annually since 2017, is placing special emphasis this year on sustainable behavioral change and citizen participation.

The department has formulated a detailed action plan spanning from September 17 to October 1, 2026. Under this plan, several activities have been scheduled:

September 17: Promotion of the campaign through banners, posters, and social media. September 18: Segregation of unused items under the 'Waste-Free India' initiative and planning for Safai Mitra security camps in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). September 21: Record room management and cleaning of office equipment. September 22: Meetings with Fertilizer PSUs and the FICC via video conferencing. September 23: Monitoring of cleanliness activities by senior officials. September 24 and 25: Disposal of pending matters, including PMO references, references from MPs and Ministers, state government references, CPGRAMS, and parliamentary assurances. September 28: Quiz competition on awareness regarding single-use plastics and e-waste. September 29 and 30: Review of e-files and old physical files, along with the management of digital records.

As a significant part of the campaign, a voluntary 'Shramdaan' (labor donation) will be organized at the Shastri Bhawan complex on October 1, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM under the 'One Day, One Hour, Together' initiative. The Secretary has urged all personnel to join this nationwide Shramdaan and carry forward the message of cleanliness on the occasion of 'Swachh Bharat Diwas' on October 2.

The Department of Fertilizers' action plan focuses on creating a clean workplace, improving record management, raising awareness about e-waste and single-use plastics, and integrating cleanliness into the daily work culture.
