Northern Coalfields Limited Launches Ministry of Coal's 'Special Campaign 6.0'
NCL has initiated Special Campaign 6.0 focusing on cleanliness, e-waste management, and record improvement, targeting the cleaning of 100,000 square feet and the disposal of 3,500 metric tonnes of scrap.

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India based in Singrauli, has commenced the preliminary phase of 'Special Campaign 6.0' following directives from the Ministry of Coal. This preliminary phase will run from September 15 to September 30, 2026, followed by an implementation phase from October 2 to October 31, 2026.
The primary objective of this campaign is to ensure effective e-waste management, cleanliness, improvement of office premises, record management, disposal of scrap, and the proper utilization of unused sites. Under this campaign, NCL has set a target to clean 90 identified sites, covering a total area of 100,000 square feet. Additionally, the company aims to dispose of approximately 3,500 metric tonnes of scrap. To improve efficiency and space utilization, 400 physical files and 9,000 e-files will be reviewed.
To ensure the effective operation of the campaign, NCL has appointed nodal teams across all its units and regions. An 'Adopt-a-Spot' initiative will be implemented, where cleanliness teams will take responsibility for the regular cleaning and maintenance of specific locations. Furthermore, plantation and beautification work will be carried out in these areas as needed.
To modernize record management, old physical records are being digitized and scanned. Systematic collection and safe disposal of e-waste, electronic scrap, and plastic waste will also be undertaken. Working on the concept of 'Waste to Wealth,' the company will promote the reuse of waste materials. Moreover, 5S/3S-based activities will be encouraged in offices to ensure the timely disposal of pending complaints and references.
To increase public awareness, the company will organize activities such as the 'Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan,' walkathons, Shramdan, street plays, rallies, wall paintings, and various competitions.
It is noteworthy that NCL exceeded its targets during the previous 'Special Campaign 5.0.' At that time, 91 sites were cleaned against a target of 75, and cleanliness drives were conducted over 100,400 square feet compared to the target of 85,000 square feet. Additionally, 3,459 metric tonnes of scrap were disposed of against a target of 2,500 metric tonnes, generating revenue of 165,514,888 rupees. In terms of record management, 371 files were reviewed against a target of 350, resulting in the removal of 180 unnecessary files, and 9,800 e-files were reviewed against a target of 9,000, leading to the closure of 5,500 e-files.
