Department of Justice Launches 'Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026', Officials Take Cleanliness Pledge

The Department of Justice, under the Ministry of Law and Justice, is observing the 'Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026' (SHS 2026) fortnight from September 17 to October 2. The primary objective of this campaign is to strengthen voluntary efforts and collective action toward cleanliness. The theme for this year's campaign is 'Participation in Cleanliness, Clean India, Developed India'.

To mark the launch of the campaign, the Secretary of the Department of Justice administered the 'Swachhata' (cleanliness) pledge to the department's officials at 10:30 AM on September 17, 2026.

Under SHS-2026, the Department of Justice has planned several key activities. Shramdan (voluntary labor) activities focusing on comprehensive cleanliness will be organized at Jaisalmer House, located on Man Singh Road in New Delhi. This will include the daily cleaning of rooms, sections, corridors, the canteen, and toilets. Additionally, tree plantation will be carried out under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign.

To ensure better utilization of resources, the department will conduct auctions of unusable items. Furthermore, there are plans to provide cleanliness kits and incentives to Safai Mitras and housekeeping staff (HKS) for their welfare.

During the campaign, officials and employees of the department will undertake intensive cleaning of the Jaisalmer House premises. These efforts will include streamlining the sewerage system, beautifying the area by painting flower pots, cleaning stairs, fixing loose wiring, cleaning furniture, and organizing documents.

Additionally, the Department of Justice will participate in the nationwide Shramdan program 'Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath' (One Day, One Hour, Together) proposed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) on October 1, 2026.
